now for EVERYONE, next week only need to come ONE DAY, that is:

THURSDAY

9.30-12.30am Sectional (ALL)

2.00-5.00pm Combined (sec 2 and 3)

UNLESS...

you have make-up sessions on Wed 330-530pm. (see lists outside GO room)

*all grp leaders, pls call the sec.1 to tell them their sect. practice is MORNING 930-1230PM!

clarification

CLARIFICATION for Sec. 2-3 members

Some of you started to ask this question recently: 

"Must we buy the t-shirt?"

My answer to you is: 

"It is NOT compulsory."

And if I am not wrong, this was announced even before the June holiday.

Ever since then, 

we asked each section to come out with designs,

we narrowed down to 2 designs,

we did the vote,

we collected the sizes,

we made announcement on the progress of the design/color of tee,

we pinned up announcement on the door and blog regarding the design, price and sizes.

we put up namelists outside the GO room, wanting to confirm the sizes before we order.

Throughout these 3 months,

no one has mentioned to us or anyone that he or she does not want the tee.

Now,

we have people starting to voice out their wishes.

I am puzzled and disappointed.

Was there a communication breakdown somewhere?

Or was it simply just a one-way communication?

We need to reflect on this.

All of us.

And can I request,

from next year onwards,

ordering of t-shirt or anything of that sort, 

will be taken charge by EXCO members TOTALLY,

which is what commonly practiced in other schools.

Will pass you the vendor's contact.

G.O. Relay System

Let's have a R-E-L-A-Y!

To all Group leaders,

We need to have a relay system for our CCA, something like the class relay system.

Pls complete the "relay sys template" in the following format:

{FIRST LEVEL}

[Group leader's name and hp]

->

{SECOND LEVEL}

member 1 + member 2 + member 3+ member 4

{THRID LEVEL}

member 1A + member 1B + member 1C + member 1D + member 1E

member 2A + member 2B + member 2C + member 2D + member 2E

HOW IT WORKS?

In the event when we need to disseminate info urgently. 

Teacher will call all the group leaders.

Each group leader will call member 1 to member 4.

Then member 1 will call member 1A to 1D. (Same thing for member 2-4)

FOR SMALLER GROUPS

the minimum no. of members at third level is 2, i.e. member 1A, 1B.

FOR LARGER GROUPS

you may increase the no. of members at second level to 5-6. i.e. member 5, member 6.

Feel free to clarify with me if you are unsure.

The quiz comprises 40 multiple choice questions on

• musical theory and rudiments
• composers and history
• musical instruments (western and non-western)
• general music knowledge and NE-related music matters
• popular music

Step 1:
- Go to the following websites:
- For Secondary School Students:

Step 2:
- Login using your NRIC number, School, Level and Class.
- Students who use fake identities will be disqualified.
-Each student has only 12 seconds to answer each question.
- The quiz can be attempted only once in school or at home from 30 July to 8 August.

Finals

5 September 2008 at Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School, 9.00 am - 11.00 am

The final round will be conducted at Pasir Ris Crest Secondary (EZCOE Music).

20 top scorers from each category will compete in the finals. Prizes will be given to the top three scorers of each category and consolation prizes will be given to the other finalists.

The exam will take place end of the year (25/11-4/12).

We are hoping that some of you can take up the examination, 

as part of personal upgrading.

The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will be organizing a percussion instrument workshop for students at the Singapore Conference Hall (SCH) this coming Sept holiday.

Details

Date: 1 Sept 08 (Monday)

Time: 2-4pm

Venue: Singapore Conference Hall, Exhibition Hall

Cost: S$12.84 per student

Those who have not attended the workshop before and would like to sign up, please give your name to Hui Xuan or Xiao Han by 14 Aug 08 (Thur).

GO Tee

G.O. T-shirt (2008)

Hi everyone,

This is to inform you that the order for the G.O tee has been SENT!

The new tee will be quite different from the current one.

First, the material will be dry-fit instead of cotton.

Second, the colour will not be black anymore.

We want to thank Yuan Ting and Jia Fen again for helping with the design.

We would also want to thank Mei Ling and Valerie Ng for getting the sizes.

Group leaders, you may start collecting $12 from your members anytime.
